Spread Those Wings
I was at home last weekend to attend the Sister's college graduation. It was fun and poignant and exciting. Hard to describe how amazing it was to see how my baby Sister has grown into such an accomplished young lady!
When I got to my parents' house, my dad showed me a beautiful sight in the back yard. Two doves had laid 3 little eggs in one of his empty plant pots behind the house, and a few weeks before I arrived, the eggs had hatched.
The little baby doves were so cute. My dad told me this was the second year in a row that the doves had come and laid their eggs in the same spot behind the house.
The adult doves were never far away, feeding them, helping them to take short flights from the nest.
The third morning I was there, the baby doves were gone. They had flown away.
That same day, my Sister graduated from college. She'll soon be moving up to the East Coast as well.
I think there's some symbolism in that, but I'm not sure how to put it into words. So I won't. I've just told the story; I'll leave it at that.
