A VERY Good Friday

I got my computer back, yayyy. It only cost me $685, and two weeks of gnashing my teeth and calling up a guy named Enrique in a seedy computer store on W. 39th St every hour.

He told me it would be ready last Friday. Then that turned into "Monday or Tuesday."

Then on Monday he said the dude who was supposed to send him the new motherboard sold it to someone else.

Sound a little shady?

On Tuesday he said the dude told him the motherboard was being shipped out that afternoon.

On Wednesday he said it had arrived, and he was "in the middle of installing it."

On Thursday morning he said, "I'm an hour away from finishing it. I'll call you."

On Thursday at 5 p.m. he said, "I'll have it done by 6."

At 6:30 he called me. I had to be at my orchestra rehearsal by 7.

I ran outside in the rain, caught a cab, convinced him to drive me to the computer place, wait for me and then take me to rehearsal.

Now I'm home with my baby. It's nice to have her back. Even though she's probably full of stolen black market computer parts.
