( 9:12 AM ) teahouse
My birthday is this coming weekend.
It's a major one - the Big 3-0.
That means I'll have to change the description of my blog from "20-something-year-old Asian American New Yorker..."
I'm having a major crisis about turning 30. I didn't think I would, but I've been having periodic panic attacks at work. And random thoughts.
"If I die next week, I won't be described as 'the rising young starlet in the world of law' - and people won't say, 'what a pity she died so young..only in her 20s'."
"All but one of the Bronte sisters died before 30. And they all wrote brilliant novels. What have you done with your life, THB, except incur debt, go through a series of failed relationships and piss off clients?"
My friend B, who turned 30 six months ago, told me, "I was really anxious in the weeks leading up to it, but once it was upon me I felt a strange sense of calm, and lay back and accepted it."
I replied, "So it's basically like death?" #
