Five Years Later
As many of my old readers know, today is my birthday.
Yes, 9/11 is a special day for me.
The Boy threw me a birthday party last night in local bar. It was lovely.
Several of my friends were late because they drove in together from Brooklyn, and they were stuck in the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel for over an hour.
They couldn't figure out why. The cars came to a standstill. People shut down their engines, got out of their cars and hung out for a while.
They heard from other car drivers that the President was in town for the 9/11 memorial activities, and all of downtown was shut to traffic.
When my friends finally arrived, they asked me, "Are you mad that Dubya almost made us miss your birthday party?"
Nah. This kind of thing has happened every year for the past five years. But I've taken it in stride.
I'm just glad I was able to celebrate my birthday surrounded by friends.
Happy Monday to everyone. Hug and kiss your loved ones today, and thank God you have them.
