The High Speed of Technology
The Husband and I are looking at new cell phones for our shared cell phone plan.
Both of us are Luddites when it comes to cell phone technology. We both just got phones with text messaging about 2 years ago.
We still have basic phones - that is, they look like phones. They have touch pads on the front that look like phone touch pads.
They don't have browsers or cameras. They don't play music or videos. You can't Google things on them.
Unfortunately, they've both gotten really old and decrepit in the last month, and now we need to replace them.
We walked into the store today, and we were overwhelmed with the options.
Do we want "smart phones"? Do we want touch screens that respond to our fingers? Do we want web browsers and access to Facebook and Twitter? Do we want phones that play music and videos and can also film us dancing to the music?
There were kids running around in that store who had headsets hooked up to their phones, who were simultaneously watching videos and talking to their parents and instant messaging with their friends.
I was so exhausted afterwards, that when I got home I turned out all of the lights, closed the curtains on the windows and sat in the dark and quiet for a while, just decompressing from the sensory overload.

Happy St. Valentine's Day/Lunar New Year!
Happy Year of the Tiger and day of St. Valentine! By Year of the Tiger, I mean the Lunar New Year named for this majestic animal: Not the year honoring any living person: And speaking of that, I have a feeling someone will be getting his wife a pretty nice present for Valentine's Day! Wishing everyone a beautiful day!

Snow Day!
Well, I've changed out my commenting system, and I'm in the middle of updating my links on the right. Everything should be fixed by this weekend.
In other news, a huge snowstorm hit the Northeast last night.
With it came about 8 inches of snow in New York City.
My office was closed today; I stayed indoors and worked from home.
I would have liked to go sledding in Central Park! But woe to me - I was on a conference call all morning.
Afterward, the partner in charge of the call told me he'd call me back in a couple of hours to talk more about this project.
He never called back!
He probably went out to play in the snow with his kids...

In Transition
I have just taken out the Haloscan comments, and I'm taking a crack at using Blogger comments. Hopefully this will work...
