Adventures in Married Poverty
For the past several months, the Husband and I have been buckling down to pay off some debt and save some money.
We've been putting ourselves on weekly budgets, packing our lunches, and trying not to go out too frequently.
Earlier this week, we both came down with colds. I went to the drugstore to buy cough medicine.
But since I'm a maniac, I wanted the absolute cheapest stuff possible.
And way at the back of the bottom shelf in the drugstore, next to the enema kits, I found it!
Yes, we've reached a new fiscal low - we're buying the generic generic cough medicine.
I think this stuff was bottled in the 50s. But it's been working great so far. And best of all, it was super cheap!

Actually, it tastes more like roots and herbs..it's this thick, viscous black liquid, too. Like tires, but liquid.
Brand name tussin tastes terrible anyway, so it can't be that much worse. I've been going with generics for infant drops, but only because of all the recent recalls =(.
hope you're feeling better. wow. i had no idea they had cheaper than cheap generic generic cough syrup.
Most generic drugs are just as good as the branded ones since FDA keeps a (somewhat) tight control over what goes into the ingredients.
I buy generics too, unless the brand ones are on sale. :)
Good luck on your fiscal conservatism.
Nothing wrong with generic stuff. We buy them all the time!! Still works I think.
