Nine Years Out

It's hard to believe that today it's been 9 years since the World Trade Center towers were destroyed.

On that day, I was a young woman who had just started practicing law, looking forward to celebrating my birthday as a twentysomething-year-old.

Today I am a still-young woman years into my practice of law, celebrating my birthday as a thirtysomething-year-old.

In that period of time, I'd like to think we've all become more aware of the world and its dangers. But also more appreciative of the days of peace, and all of the good things about our humanity.

If Osama bin Laden is still out there, he certainly knows he hasn't beaten us.

I believe in forgiveness. I wish all of us love and peace. It's my birthday so I get to bestow that wish on everyone for today.

Belated Happy Birthday. I too believe in forgiveness, life is way too short to live without it. Hope the year ahead is spectacular in every way possible.

Happy belated birthday, THB. You are now person #2 I know with a 9/11 birthday. It must have been hard in the early years to feel very celebratory, but I hope you had a very nice day this year!

THIRTYSOMETHING (!!) year old Asian American New Yorker, lawyer, amateur musician, curious girl taking a bite out of the Big Apple. Don't mess with me - I'm short and I look demure, but I carry a big purse. And I've just embarked on the journey of married life in Manhattan.
