Evolution
The evolution of Valentine's Day in my relationship with the Husband:
Year 1: Fancy romantic dinner (4 courses) in a fancy restaurant, dancing, flowers, jewelry, large box of nice chocolates.
Year 2: Fancy romantic dinner (4 courses) in a fancy restaurant, large box of nice chocolates.
Year 3: Romantic dinner (3 courses) cooked at home by devoted boyfriend, large box of nice chocolates.
Year 4 (Year 1 of marriage): Romantic dinner (Chinese food delivery) ordered from local restaurant by devoted husband, small box of nice chocolates.
Year 5 (Year 2 of marriage): Romantic dinner at Popeye's fried chicken, bag of Hershey's Kisses.
Year 6 (Year 3 of marriage): 1 course pasta dinner cooked at home by devoted husband, fell asleep before dessert.

OMG I laughed so hard when I read this. It's the same idea in Amy Tan's book (oh... which one??) when she describes falling in love and sharing a double bed and snuggling and by the 3rd year or so of marriage they're in a king bed so that they have lots of room to spread out.
That's funny, but at least you are still getting a romantic dinner!
Ha! I've been married 27 years. I received a card and a big Hershey's Kiss, and felt lucky to get that!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
love, just keeps getting better. it's the love you share and not the day that fills the heart
For me in the 6th v-Day post marraige had the hubby waking up at 4 and catching an early morning flight for a conference !
aww, but what you lost in romance you made up for in cozy? maybe year 7 is the charm when you wow and romance him.
